My wife Sarah has a green thumb. She loves to get covered in dirt every spring, planting her annuals and pulling the dead weeds and other leftovers from the previous fall. Every Mother's Day is a day of sweat and toil for my two sons and me - her favorite thing to do (after having breakfast out) on that special day is get her garden started, which means Brian, Jimmy and I get to carry lots of heavy things and dig a bunch of deep holes. One of the things I'll miss since we moved is admiring the two magnificent rose bushes she transplanted from little plastic pots and raised with loving care. Every year's annual flowers are different - johnny jump ups and snapdragons one year, tulips and day lilies the next.
